Next Year Everything Will Be Real

I woke up with an egg on my head.

warm grass and soft leaves...

I saw that Chris had put this photo from a few summers ago on his blog and it made me happy and nostalgic so I thought I would share. Time makes things better and warmer and summerier. Even if they were rather grand to begin with.

Some of my favourite hunters...

So I'm kind of re-blogging this from Little Lost Love, but anyway... look! Bear Fox Wolf.

Yes I could have just "micro-blogged" this because it is less than 140 characters, but I didn't feel like it. I'll stop using silly words now.

New cards!

Finally got the cards I ordered. They are looking nice. Happy. Let me know if you want one, bunny cards are folded notecards and $4 (plus postage) and the girl postcard (the drawing is called "Secondary Clouds") is $2.

I got some cute little business cards done as well... maybe I'll photograph them tomorrow to put on my blog.

The Mighty Mighty market was fun on the weekend. Made some nice new friends and sold some things. Drank giant gin and tonics out of milkshake cups (the paper ones, not plastic) and sushi train afters. Fun is fun. Oh except someone asked to photograph my stall at the market and I thought they wanted to take pictures of my prints and items and then they just took photos of my face. People do not seem to realise how awkward I look when I know I'm being photographed. Well I'll tell you it's really awkward. I mean if they are ok with it I suppose that's fine.

Slice magazine

Drawing I made a while ago is in here. The issue has an interview with R.L Stine and an illustration by Julianna Swaney too.

Hey you Wellington people

This Saturday Devon and I will be having a table at the Mighty Mighty Christmas market if you want to come. I've been busy today doing organising things for that, things like MAKING TOTE BAGS (finally). Well by making I mean sewing so far. Tonight I'll start drawing on them. Who knew it would take such a long time to sew a few canvas tote bags? The bags below that I've taken a photo of are some of the ones that Devon drew on yesterday while we were crafting. So pretty.
We'll also have heaps of other things for sale such as brooches and art and prints and sweet treats and perhaps the best item of all, friendship. The friendship is free with sales or conversation.

Nice Things for Presents, part 3: Girlfriend Presents

I guess you already got all your presents, but maybe your still looking for the perfect material item to represent your love.

Also... this is not a hint to Tim. I like the present you got me. This is for other people to get things for their girlfriends.

Really need to work on getting all my images to be of uniform widths. Please do not judge me on my widths of various sizes.

...

Yesterday there was an earthquake and I drew lots (puppy, Boy George, chameleon, birds, other) and the man at the post office is nice and helpful. Postage rates don't fluctuate here depending on the person as much as in Australia or Canada. Um...

Pretty much everything is really great now I just hope that it gets a bit more summery soon.

Melbourne/Art

So many Christmas shows. I wish there was one in Wellington so I could go to it. I'd even bring my own egg nog (for Tim, not me. Egg nog is gross).

If you haven't been to it yet, I have two pretty drawings in the "Brunswick Bound Re-Bounds/Off The Wall" art show at Brunswick Bound. It's their first show for ages after closing as a gallery for a while. There are some great artists in the show, like Dylan Martorell and Marc Martin ...and Texta who runs the place. All the art for sale is $100 or less so everything is affordable too!

Another show which opens this weekend in Melbourne is the Extended Play Pop-Up Shop, opening in the 12th of December. Features work from lots of great artists, including personal favourites Amy Borrell and Caitlin Shearer. The show/shoppie shop is running from opening night and then every Saturday until the 23rd of January.

Toronto/Art

If you live in Toronto and are interested in coming to this, I have a few new drawings and prints in this show at Project 165 (165 Augusta Ave). Last year the inaugural pop up art shop was really great there, although I didn't go to the opening night, instead opted for drinking large bottles of Canadian red wine with the people we sublet our place from. Tim and I discovered our love for combining pennies with snow that night. Don't tell the guy who mows the grass in the park next to OCAD.

Here's the flyer for it...

Yes yes yes!

Mel Stringer has created a whole lot of great new t-shirt designs. Yay. I assume you already know about my enthrallment with her work.

More t-shirts HERE.

Have you...

Have you had a look at Print Society yet? Good Idea. Tim showed me last week.

Oooo calendar...

Hey did you know that Frankie magazine has just made a 2010 calendar? Did you know that one of my drawings is in it? Did you know that they sent me two so I could give one copy to my mummy? Now you do.

If you would like one too, you can get it HERE.

Ruby!

Sometimes I make portraits of all of the animal friend, not just their faces. This is Ruby.
